Ane year from now, you'll wish you had started today. This is something I practise not understand myself, all the dogma attached to the nude. When I started college I had problems right off in the art department. Tyler Jr College. I paint the man figure and when information technology came time for the pupil showcase, they refused to let me hang my paintings in the hallway with the other students. I had to hang it inside the art department. Since the art department has drinking glass walls that faced the hallway, I had to hang it between the glass panels on the brick wall facing into the fine art department so it couldn't be seen from the hall. When I complained about the museum on the same campus showing figurative art, and as well the college gallery, I was told those were enclosed spaces that you had to become into to run into the fine art. Also in the painting studio itself when I had painting form I establish my paintings easel was ever turned to the wall later I left form. When I took figure drawing I was looking forward to the life drawing classes, only to find out figure drawing meant with street clothes on just, NO NUDES. I enquire them when they were going to have a existent art department. There was another local higher here that had a regional pupil competition, the University of Texas Tyler. I entered 4 of my nudes. I non but won a first place but a scholarship as well. My best nude was besides displayed on the wall in the entrance to the art , music, and theater complex. I was looking forward to transferring to this college, until I learned they only allow you to pigment in acrylic. They practise take real figure drawing classes, but the caput of the painting department tells his students, yous do not have to know how to draw to paint. He only paints abstracts, and the students he turns out are copies of himself. WHAT A JOKE.

"I'm traveling 33 1/3 RPM's in an IPOD world..."
Danny… I commend you for taking a stand up. The modest town I am from is much the same way… every show says "No Nudes".
Do you recall y'all could share with the states your painting that won? Would dearest to see information technology hither.

Drawing the human effigy is the almost challenging of artistic endeavours, mainly considering we see information technology every single day all day long in i shape or another (no pun intended). Information technology teaches you how to see like no other course of practise- line, mass, tone, value, colour- all of it. Where I live, information technology'south ben discouraged, too, only it hasn't stopped me- I just apply myself equally a model- mirrors, photographs, parts' studies- doesn't matter. So I frequently work in the nude- however, I offering this caveat to males: If you've a cat effectually, yous may wish to at least wear underwear- cats similar dangly things.
In art history classes in college, at that place were many photos of several different artists working in the nude. Piccasso, I think, was one of them.
(Art history is the only art class I have conistantly either flunked or just barely passed. I don't think personal details so well.)
I believe in that location was fifty-fifty mention of the fact that one or more of them would piece of work publically in the nude.
This thread was originally a joke. But the fact is, I have worked nude. And information technology does make a difference. The book excerpt describes the concept well. I would have used different words, but with the aforementioned meaning. I would have described the experience as less inhibited. Something near existence naked that makes you experience less constrained. Less worried about appearances. And for me, a least, that feeling helps me to focus better on the work I am doing.
Everyone should give information technology a try, at to the lowest degree. And working at it in one case, feeling embarrassed all the while, does not constitute a "endeavour". You should practise it every day until yous finally begin to lose the embarrassed novelty, and get-go to experience comfy. Then effort ti for another couple days. See if you don't finally decide for your own self, that in that location actually is something to the concept.
Thanks for your reply, David. Take intendance.
Ummmmmmmmmm – I retrieve I volition wait until the summer to attempt it….

You know, I have been thinking.
Why doesn't someone have a life-drawing class where the model is clothed, and all the artists are nude ?
It's been washed.
I had a photography teacher in college that said that when he was in college he had an teacher that had the entire class strip down to photograph (or depict – can't remember) a model.
In that location is an old tale that goes like this…
"I once tried to exercise a portrait of the Queen in the nude. When the guard caught me, he made me put some cloths on."
I think that a real artist must pose nude at one fourth dimension or another. Y'all only know how the model feels, in one case you have been in that location, done that. I one time went to a photo workshop on the northern California coast. The weather was cold and the nude models were freezing. Between the sessions the models were offered hot chocolate or tea to keep warm. It was not working at all. I went out to my car and got some blankets and the young women were tremendously grateful. I thought the people in charge were extremely callous and unprepared. A little affair like a heater or a cushion certain can aid a pose.
One of the most hard things for a educatee effigy creative person to do is to enquire someone to pose for them. Information technology should be a requirement in class to enquire 10 number of people to model for them and to pose. Many places take swim-suited models and do not crave nudes. That is OK if you can recollect to spend your time drawing the model and not the suit. It would make it much easier to go models if anybody had to model for someone in the form. When you lot have to concord a pose for a portrait or a figure study, you acquire the importance of breaks and closed windows and doors. Laying around nude looks piece of cake but modeling is not as easy as it looks.

Hum,
I estimate turn-about is fair play. I would dearest to model clothed for naked artists and so complain that that the studio was likewise warm

Have one where every artist is free to draw anything in the room. And have one where everyone is only allowed to describe the clothed model.
Whatsoever person who did not want to be nude, would be excluded from the form. Fairs fair.
Announce it several classes ahead of fourth dimension, so people tin can prepare themelves.
At first information technology sounds similar this would kill a class. Only when I think about it, I'll bet that if it were part of a curt curriculum, or were a monthly or yearly function of a long term group… It would actually either make no departure in the number of students who sign up, or would possibly increase them.
Just watch now. Someone somewhere, NOT in a nudist colony is going to start an always all-nude cartoon class.
Nudist resort…. came the gentle antiphon….
Why not go one further? A bit of function reversal for a class, for once. All the students are nude, the model(artist) is clothed and draws the grade…. (BG)
To my heed, the person is what'south important non the packaging.
